The implementation of 5G technology has been presented at the Mobile World Congress 2023.

Group Saltó, a leading company in Europe for its solutions in assistive robotics, has once again participated in the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, along with the best technology companies from around the world.

As part of this edition, Group Saltó presented the incorporation of 5G technology in its SOMCare platform.

SOMCare is a software integrated into assistive robots that provide companionship to people living alone. In addition, the platform can be used to support the social services of local councils or residences.

The incorporation of 5G connectivity in the robots will allow a greater response and quality of the services provided by SOMCare. A shorter response time of the orders executed by the robots allows users to adapt better to the technology, especially if they are elderly people.

Improving the quality of video calls will enable remote monitoring and contact with the person by social professionals and family members. This advance is also possible with this technological improvement.

According to Jordi Cabau, CTO of Group Saltó, “implementing 5G will improve the performance of the SOMCare platform and become a European benchmark for this type of care solutions“.

SOMCare is currently being tested with more than one hundred users of the ARI project, the Barcelona City Council. One of Group Saltó’s priorities is to gain first-hand knowledge of the users’ experience in order to develop the platform according to the needs of these people.

The incorporation of 5G connectivity to social robots will allow a significant improvement in people’s quality of life, the main objective of SOMCare“. These were the words of Jaume Saltó, CEO and founder of Group Saltó, on the first day of the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.

The presence at this edition of the congress has served to strengthen relations with the Barcelona City Council and to introduce us to other public administrations, service centres and residences.

The President of the Generalitat de Catalunya, Mr. Pere Aragonès, and several councillors, such as the Minister of Social Rights, Mr. Carles Campuzano, the Minister of Education, Mr. Josep Cambray, and many other representatives of the Catalan government and other public entities have been able to see first-hand A-Yud, the care robot integrated with the SOMCare platform. Many representatives of national and European organisations also visited us at Congress Square to ask about our services.

Thanks to the participation, once again, in the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Group Saltó reaffirms itself as a technological leader in robotic and assistance solutions.
